PETER, NINA & PETER JR. CSONKA AT THE ADIDAS SICKLINE

As every year there was the highlight competition Adidas Sickline taking place in Oetz Austria. This year the most important competition in freestyle form me, finished at end of the august. Since this I doesn't need to train for freestyle anymore and could just switch for the slalom kayak. I tried to get use to the long boats again and was also trying to get better shape for the famous Sickline.

A week before the competition starts we went to Oetz to enjoy awesome weather and of course the river itself. There are few great sections to kayak on with nice and new rapids after the last flood.
We also started to practice on the Wellebrücke course. Every day we did many training runs there to avoid any mistakes during the competition. I felt pretty good already in my creek boat and did some good lines. Unfortunately on Thursday during the training I went for the boof stroke and dislocated my shoulder. I had to swim out because I figured out I can’t role with the injured shoulder and swam down the champion killer. It was not too bad. Few other kayakers saw what is happening and helped me out and crossed me to the other bank. Well the shoulder was still out so I had to leave for the hospital. This meant the game over for me for the next few months.

Nina was competing on Fridays qualification with the ladies. Me and Peter Jr. were watching and crossing fingers for her. She messed up her line at the championskiller and had not the best time. She was really trying but unfortunately without training in creek boat its really hard to keep the perfect line. Our friends and Slovakian colleges did a bit better. Eva Lasko finished on the unlucky 6th place, Palo Andrassy on 27th place and his brother Tomas on the 32th place. Unlucky for the Slovakian team we went for the looser party to heal our ego's a bit. So this is it, one of the last competitions this year. We enjoyed it as much as we could and now we have to move on and I have to heal my shoulder for next adventures.

See you soon.

Peter
