New year = new challenges. This year 2015 will be filled with hard training, traveling and competing.
have to get strong again after my pregnancy and Peter has to limber up his shoulder after surgery. We started our winter preparation in November and we have been in gym almost every day for the past three months. After my pregnancy, I started to paddle very fast and I did many competitions, but I still felt much weaker than I used to be. Now I feel much better and stronger. Peter had a surgery in November, but he missed only a week of training. When he couldn't use his right arm he was doing everything without it. Push ups, pull ups even bench press with just one hand. Now his left arm is much bigger than the right one...
This winter is different than all winters before. For the first time after many years we spend it "at home". We didn't travel to a warm destination, which is quite unusual for us. The main reason is Peter's injury.
The winter at home without kayaking is quite boring for us so we try to make it interesting and have fun. It is not easy, because Peter can't even go snowboarding but at least we went cross country skiing. On the other hand there is one advantage: when I want to go snowboarding Peter can do the babysitting...
Weight lifting, running, kayak pool sessions, balance training, paddle machine, cross country skiing, TRX training – this is what we do. We try to keep it various so it is not too boring.
Any way, we are counting the days to the start of the kayaking season. One and half month to go! A few more training sessions in gym, a few more blisters from the paddle machine and then "real kayaking" is waiting for us. I hope that everything will be going smoothly and we will be prepared for next season as good as it is possible. Our biggest goal are the World Championships in August and until then we will train like hell!
See you on the water.
