Adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championships 2015 was a bit special for women this time.
It is already well know among paddling community and the women category is getting bigger and bigger from year to year.
This time 24 women took a part and raced at Oetztal Valley. It was first time when more than 20 women came to fight for the title of the Sickline Queen.
We got to Oetz at the start of week. I was pretty surprised to see so many girls to train on competition course. I can say many of them was looking much better on the course than guys and had pretty clear and fast lines. It made me even more motivated to paddle and to train. In our paddling world you can mostly see guys on the rivers and sometime it looks as only men’s sports. I was really happy to paddle with all this strong and brave girls. After few training days I started to have good rides and was improving my boof at the championkiller. I tried to have clear line on the bottom of the course as well. This year water was lower and you had to avoid all the rocks under water so it doesn't slow you down.
I was changing with Peter to babysit our little one. Little Peter didn't complain and enjoyed nice nature around but tractors were the top!
Event started on Friday with mandatory run on quali section followed by two competition runs. I did few mistakes and was a bit slow in my first run. Luckily I improved my second run and had much better line but it wasn't enough to advanced to next round and I end up on 15th place. At the evening we had a good time with friends at the sickline dinner and watched few movies during movie night. I was honored by membership in VIP Sickline club for my 7 years competing at this great event.
Next day we were cheering for our friends which fighted for medals and enjoyed nice warm weather at Oetz. Big congrats to winners Gerd and Mariann!
See you next year.
