BAD NEW YEAR'S FOR THE CSONKAS
Last year I have been to Uganda twice, first time in January and again in December. We used to go there at the beginning of January but this winter I couldn’t go so late because of school. Peter wanted to go for longer so he left already at the end of november. I came two weeks later. I was looking forward to go there and paddle waves but the main reason was Peter! I just couldn’t stay home without him.He came to pick me up at the airport so I wasn’t afraid to travel alone to Uganda. I was very tired from the travel and spent my first…
Uganda update #2
So I am here almost 4 weeks training. I can say I was little bored without my Nina because this was the first time after 8 years that I wasn't with her more than 3 days! But now we are here together. Its awesome because more of my friends also arrived ! Its awesome to see all the Vajda kayaks performing on the waves! Today we went to Jinja to make a rest day. Its hard to have a rest day on the island because you just still want to go out there and paddle. Anyway I feel little sick today…
Uganda update
The first week is gone!We went straight to Hairy lemon to surf! We couldn't wait to get on! Well we was traveling more than 30 hours didn't sleep and came to the island at 8 just had breakfast and went out! It was awesome to surf this great waves after one year! This year the level are strange and very low. T he club wave is working almost whole day and sometime the Nile comes up in the evening but not that perfect. It doesn't mater too much because Club works really well. So our days are waking up ,…
PERFECT SEASON ENDING
At this time we used to finish our competition session but this year was special. Few weeks ago we got an invitation form Jacko Jackson from UK. He invited us to their local event in Hurley. We saw many photos and videos form this place but actually we never been there before. I was a little bit worried about the weather. November can be quite cold so I was a bit scared. We haven't paddled waves this year yet so we couldn't wait to get there and check it out. I got really tired of paddling only in holes so that was a nice chance for me. We…
Voltaic solar systems
This way we would like thanks to our new sponsor from http://www.voltaicsystems.com .
We got awesome gear from them and its a pleasure to use it on our travels. We are leaving soon to Uganda and as you probably know there are big troubles to charge your notebooks, phones, tablets or other electronics. So this time we will be prepared ad have our ultra light weight portable solar system for us, so we would be able to charge all electronics very easily.
The pack comes with the solar + battery + cover so even you don't have any sunlight but the…

Slovak championship 2012
Our one of the last freestyle competition took place in our home spot in Cunovo (Slovakia). It was a really hard weekend for me and Nina, because it was first time that we did organize only to of us together. Hmm ok I mean we did organized it but all our friends was helping and supported us of course. Without them it would not be so perfect as it was so If you guys read this, ‘‘Thanks a lot for help and also for taking part in the event!’’ We were trying to get there as many competitors as possible. This…
World cup #3 recap
The last world cup took place at NOC on Nantahala river. It was our fifth week in USA kayaking and competing all around the places. I men its really stressful and also tough to kayak so long compete, sleeping in tent in the forests over the competition. I really missed my van with the comfort it has. Fortunately it seems that it didn't affect us that much in the end because our results were really good. The last of the world cups was actually on the spot where the next world championships will take place. We was training hard over…

Another great success for Nina and Peter
After the first successful competition we moved on to Hartford, Pigeon River. We have been here before so we knew what to expect. The playhole is really nice. It is pretty easy, a constant hole where every move is possible. The event started on Tuesday. The water is released by a dam and it is running only in the afternoon. We were lucky that we trained there before because there was no time to practise before the competition started. As I mentioned it is a nice easy hole and everybody was showing their best. You could see it on the mens score. To move to the quarterfinal you had to get at…
World cup #1 recap
The first 2012 World cup took place on famous Rock island play hole. This hole is probably the most difficult one from all the world cup holes. For this competition we had only 2 day trainings with lot of people in the eddy. For only one training ride you had to wait more than 40 min. I mean in some way its nice you can talk a lot during the waiting, but on the other hand its seriously not comfortable specially when you get sour or stressed that you might flash out too soon before you will get some moves there.…
Going big in the US
Two weeks in the USA. We, that means Peter and me and our Slovakian friend Tomo, came to USA at the beginning of the August to train for the World Cup in freestyle kayaking. There are three events which count into World Cup. First takes place in Tennessee on Rock Island, where we competed in 2006 at World Cup too. The second one is held in Tennessee on Pigeon River and the third one will be in NC in Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), where the next World Championships will take place. We flew to Atlanta where we picked up our rental car.
We arrived to NOC in late evening and set…
UPDATE FROM LAST COMPETITIONS
After the European Championships we took a break. Peter needed to recover and I just needed a break to gain new energy. I decided not to participate in the competition in Wildalpen, because it was just a week after Lienz and Peter wasn´t able to paddle. The next weekend a white water festival in Cunovo took place, in our local water course. One part of it was a freestyle event which we organized. Peter didn’t compete so he had time to organize the event. We figured out a special rule for this event to have more fun. It was a small competition but with very good…

NINA CLAIMS SILVER IN LIENZ
Nina Csonková's report from the 2012 European Freestyle Championship in Lienz, AustriaRight now I am sitting in our car on the way home from Lienz. The European Championships are over and I am full of emotions. It is funny how long you prepare yourself for it and how quickly things fly by.This year we came to Lienz with big goals. Peter wanted to defend his title as European Champion and I wanted to improve my result of the previous Euros. We spent about three weeks in Lienz before the event started to prepare ourselves for it. The Drau hole…
